Safari lodges in Tanzania’s northern safari circuit are comparable with the best elsewhere in the region and with a few exceptions these tend to be large lodges with between 100 and 150 beds. In the southern safari circuit most lodges are exclusive permanent luxury camps with a rustic touch.
With few exceptions, lodges are located within the national parks and conservation areas. Generally these are of small size with less then 45 beds. Both in the north as in the south these establishments tend be set in areas on extraordinary national beauty, are unfenced and therefore game frequents the vicinity of the lodges, especially in the night.
Lodges tend to be in the medium to high price brackets and most budget travellers will therefore find camping safaris the more attractive option.
